Brainspotting Therapy Online
Brainspotting is a guided therapy process that focuses on helping you process trauma, intense emotions, or other issues that are holding you back. The feelings and experiences associated with trauma can often get stuck or buried. Because your brain is still holding onto the trauma, it can continue to interfere with your life. With this therapy, you revisit or unbury those details so your brain can finish processing them, allowing you to move on.
Access Deeper Healing Gently & Effectively
Brainspotting is a powerful brain-body therapy in our Division—using eye positions to access and process stuck trauma in deeper brain areas. Gentle, often non-verbal, and highly effective for profound release—virtual sessions integrated with STARR.
History & Science
Discovered by David Grand in 2003 as an evolution from EMDR (while treating a patient), Brainspotting locates “brainspots”—eye positions linked to subcortical trauma storage (e.g., brainstem, limbic system). It works via focused mindfulness on the spot + bilateral sound, activating neurobiological reconsolidation—releasing frozen trauma without extensive retelling, calming amygdala/prefrontal disconnect for natural processing.
Benefits
- Deep trauma release for complex/developmental issues.
- Reduces sensory/emotional overwhelm, performance blocks.
- Gentle alternative when talking feels too much—faster for some than traditional therapy.
How We Use It at Regional Psychiatry
Blended with STARR somatic coaching (e.g., TRE for body release) and EMDR for layered healing. Virtual with bilateral audio—safe, attuned.
